Robert L. Turner, III – President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Turner is President and Chief Executive Officer of Smart Profitability Solutions, LLC, dba SMART Safety Gulf Coast. Bob’s unique perspective is based upon 30 years of operations and executive experience in championing workforce safety programs across manufacturing, distribution, and construction services businesses.

Prior to helping form SMART Safety Gulf Coast strategic alliance in 2011, Mr. Turner enjoyed a long tenure as a financial and operating executive with Georgia-Pacific Corporation through 1998. This included responsibility for the $1.8 billion specialty building products unit of the distribution business. From 2003 – 2006, he was CEO of a large construction trade services firm serving California homebuilders, before returning to the Management Services & Associates, LLC practice he had founded in 2001 to provide long-term C-level corporate development, strategic, and financial solutions to CEO’s and boards of middle market firms.

Bob is a frequent public speaker and author regarding growth strategies for businesses. He maintains deep relationships in building materials and construction related industries.

Mr. Turner has served on several boards. He is a graduate of Kansas State University and the Graduate School of Credit & Financial Management of NACM at Stanford University.

Brandon Chapman, CSP, M.S. – Vice President of Regional Operations – Baton Rouge
Mr. Chapman is Safety Services Manager for SMART Safety Gulf Coast. Brandon is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with a Master’s degree in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from the College of Engineering at Louisiana State University. Brandon has worked on numerous heavy civil construction projects, including a design build project of the longest cable stayed bridge in the country, The John James Audubon Bridge.

Brandon has developed and delivered numerous onsite training programs, conducted hundreds of jobsite audits, managed worker’s compensation claims, and maintained storm water pollution prevention plans. Brandon also has experience in industrial safety and the emergency services arena including haz-mat, fire protection, high angle rescue, security, and medical first responder.

Ted Low, Jr, CSP, AICPCU – Vice President, National Operations
Mr. Low is a Safety Services Manager for SMART Safety Gulf Coast. Ted is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Associate of Risk Management for Public Entities (AICPCU). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Health & Hygiene from the University of Houston. Ted has 20 years of safety and environmental experience in a variety of industries to include general manufacturing, chemical plants, warehousing and distribution, compressed gas repackaging, public safety, public works, water and wastewater treatment, airport operations, fleet maintenance, low and high voltage electrical, and building maintenance and renovations.

Ted’s work experience includes safety, health, industrial hygiene, homeland security and emergency response program development and implementation. He has extensive municipality safety and risk management experience with the State of Georgia (Atlanta) as Chief Loss Control & Safety Officer, and State of Texas (Houston) as Safety Supervisor. In Atlanta he oversaw the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Loss Control Program (CLCP) launched across more than 160 state entities. In Houston he had responsibility and oversight of safety programs for 23 City Departments and over 22,000 employees. Ted has developed regulatory compliant training programs and performed numerous field inspections and accident investigations throughout his safety career. Ted organizes and leads safety business and field supervisor meetings with clients and conducts field audits, observations, and training across the Southeast Region.

Ed Reel – Vice President, Safety Management Solutions
Mr. Reel is Vice President, Safety Management Solutions with SMART Safety Group. He is responsible for driving the company’s nationwide market share growth and strengthening its client and industry relations. Mr. Reel brings over 25 years of broad-based experience and leadership working with Fortune 100 and privately held companies in health & safety, operations, engineering, finance and sales & marketing. He has extensive industry experience in chemical, construction, distribution, energy, manufacturing, oil & gas, power, specialty trades, transportation and warehousing.

Prior to joining SMART Safety Group, Mr. Reel worked with Mobil Oil Corporation, TRW, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Peach State Integrated Technologies. He is a frequent speaker at business events, conference and trade shows and has authored a number of technical articles and white papers that have been published in leading industry magazines.

Mr. Reel holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration in Operations Management / Logistics & Transportation. He also earned OSHA 10 Certification.

Karl P. Kuehn, CSHO, SSH, Safety Services Manager – Orlando, Florida Region
Karl Kuehn has extensive experience in general industry and construction safety, law enforcement, and education. He serves as a Safety Services Manager assisting SMART’s clients in Central Florida.

Supplementing his significant safety management experience, Karl has completed extensive safety training with certifications, including: CSHO – Certified Safety and Health Officer (General Industry); SSH – Specialist in Safety and Health (General Industry); SSH – Specialist in Safety and Health (Construction); OSHA 30 Hour; OSHA 510 and 511 Courses; Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor (General Industry)
Prior to becoming a trained safety professional, Karl had nearly twenty years’ experience in law enforcement, and also served as a middle school teacher. This background provided him with extensive training in human behavior and leadership. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University, studied business management at Texas A&M University, and completed Law Enforcement Training in the state of Kansas.

Lee Wilkinson, Safety Services Manager, Southwest Region
Lee Wilkinson is a Safety Services Manager for Smart Safety Gulf Coast in the Southwest Region. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment from Southeastern Louisiana University and OSHA 30 Hour for Construction Certification.

Lee has an extensive background in safety working for companies such as Harbor Environmental and Safety and Wal-Mart. His experience includes running safety meetings for large-scale companies, performing field, office and driving inspections, and developing/managing the best course of action for meeting weekly inspection quotas.

After spending two years in our Gulf Coast Region (Baton Rouge, LA), Lee was instrumental in opening SMART’s newest Southwest Region office in Houston, TX. In Houston, Lee conducts client jobsite audits to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, delivers effective health and safety training courses, conducts monthly Safety Business Meetings (SBM’s), and provides immediate incident/accident response and reporting for SMART clients in the Southwest Region.

Tony Clarksmith, Safety Services Manager
Mr. Clarksmith has over twenty years’ experience working with a variety of construction trades, including projects of all sizes. His most recent experience was serving as a Site Safety Officer for one of SMART’s customers on the high profile Mercedes Benz Stadium construction project in Atlanta, Georgia. Tony has completed the OSHA 500 and OSHA 510 courses, and is a very experienced trainer.

Robbie Hicks PHR – Safety Services Representative
Robbie Hicks is a Safety Services Representative for Smart Safety Gulf Coast in the Atlanta region. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Georgia in Business Administration – Management. Robbie currently holds certifications as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), as well as an OSHA 30 Hour for General Industry. Robbie has an extensive background in workers compensation, accident investigation and General Industry Safety program management. His experience includes monitoring safety programs in a large manufacturing and warehousing operation, handling workers compensation claims, conducting various types of training, creating policy, and all areas of human resources. Robbie conducts field safety audits and various trainings for SMART Safety’s general industry and construction clients in the Southeast region.

Fred Long, III – Safety Services Representative
Fred is a Safety Services Representative at SMART Safety Gulf Coast. Fred earned a B.S. in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, from Georgia Southern University. He provides safety services and training for a variety of SMART Safety general industry and construction industry customers across the Southeast U.S.

He holds an OSHA 30 Hour – Construction Certificate. Fred’s work includes customer service, operations scheduling, and business development assistance.

Keith Rosenbach – Safety Services Representative
Mr. Rosenbach has received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University. Keith is a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist, and has experience in the commercial, industrial, and mining industries. Other certifications include: Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Trainer in Surface Mining (New Miner, Experienced Miner, and Annual Refresher), MSHA Experienced Miner (Surface Mining), OSHA 30, American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) Program, and Medic First Aid CPR/AED Trainer. Keith organizes and leads safety business and field supervisor meetings with clients. Keith also conducts field audits, observations, pre-qualifications, and training across the gulf coast region.

Alberto Echevarria – Safety Services Representative
Mr. Echevarria is based in SMART Safety Gulf Coast’s Atlanta Regional Office. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina. He spent twenty years in the US Air Force where he commenced his safety career in 1988. He then attended Georgia Tech where he received his OSHA 501 certification.

Alberto has developed safety programs to help clients comply with the initiative for temporary workers and participated on several OSHA audits with positive results. Alberto is bilingual (Spanish-English) and has a vast experience in general industry.

Scarlett E. Walden – Safety Services Representative
Scarlett is a Safety Services Representative at Smart Safety Gulf Coast. She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health Sciences (Industrial Hygiene) from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Scarlett provides safety services to a variety of SMART Safety general industry, and construction industry customers across the Southeast U.S.

Scarlett’s experience with Environmental Health and Safety started with an internship as an Industrial Hygiene Technician. Here, she performed inspections for steel mills and asbestos abatement projects with special attention to personal and area air monitoring. Her experience also includes noise level monitoring, water and mold sampling, and data analysis. Scarlett is currently seeking her OSHA 30 hour certification for general industry.

Jason Walburn – Field Operations Coordinator
Jason Walburn is a Safety Services Manager for Smart Safety Gulf Coast. Jason holds an OSHA 30 Hour certification in General Industry and is currently testing for OSHA 30 Hour in Construction. Jason has an extensive background in rope access and high angle rescue and is a certified Level 2 rope access technician. He is knowledgeable in both commercial and residential construction and the hazards that they may present. His experience includes, writing JSAs and JHAs, leading safety meetings, hazard mitigation, incident analysis, knowledge of ANSI and NFPA standards, and the creation and implementation of rescue plans.

Rob Walden – Safety Services Manager
Mr. Walden is a Safety Services Manager for Smart Safety Gulf Coast. Rob holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Occupational Health and Safety. He is currently seeking an Associate Safety Professional certification and OSHA 500. Rob’s work in safety has been in industrial construction on projects such as blast furnace rebuilds and oil refinery construction. He holds an OSHA 30 hour construction certification. His experience and skills include observational site audits, hazard mitigation, site safety orientation, pre-work safety advisement, post work safety evaluation, incident analysis, composition of job specific safety plans and lock out/tag out program management.

Shallin Roy, STSC, EMR – Safety Services Representative
Mr. Roy is a Safety Services Representative for SMART Safety Gulf Coast. Shallin is a Board Certified, Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction (STSC) and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) with a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Louisiana, Lafayette. Shallin has served as Team-Leader in varying industries, including multiple positions with various operators throughout the Gulf Of Mexico and North-America. Shallin’s experience encompassed a diverse range of positions and organizations, initially entering the oil & gas industry in construction as a Blaster/Painter, then drilling services in Mud-Logging and MWD/LWD Directional Drilling Engineering, and later worked his way up to Divisional-Team Leader of Sales/Marketing in the wine and spirit industry. Shallin returned to the oil & gas industry in 2012 as a Health Safety Environmental (HSE) Coordinator contracted to Chevron Teams in Environmental Management and Construction, eventually recruited to develop a consulting division for safety services in the oil & gas industry.

In his current role, Shallin organizes and leads safety business meetings, field supervisor meetings for multiple clients and conduct field audits, observations, pre-qualifications, and training across the gulf coast region to help coach and develop our client’s safety culture in the work place.

Barry Abshire – Director of Risk Management Services
Mr. Abshire is Director of Risk Management Services for SMART Safety Gulf Coast. Barry is a graduate of Louisiana State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology. Barry is also Senior Managing Director, Risk Management of Pala Group, Inc, a construction and industrial services firm doing business in the South and Southeastern U.S.

Barry has over 20 years in the construction safety field and oversees the identification of key risks within the organization. He focuses on mitigating factors such as insurable, contractual, legal, and safety risks. Prior to his current position with SMART Safety Gulf Coast, Barry was the Corporate Safety Director with the Pala Group from 1997 until 2005, at which time he took on the role of Risk Manager.

Vincent Hundley, CSP, M.S. – Founder & CEO of SMART Safety Group
Vince Hundley is the Founder and CEO of SMART Safety Group, in San Diego, a full service safety company providing safety products, safety services and OSHA training to thousands of employees in the construction industry. Vince also serves as the Safety Director of the AGC of San Diego, where he oversees all safety training staff, curriculum development and regulatory affairs.

Vince has 20 years of comprehensive safety experience and management experience working for a diverse group of employers. He has developed his own brand of Behavioral Safety Management that permeates organizations helping create safety cultures. His belief is that it is important that workers adopt safety not because it is required, but because they are doing it for their co-workers, family and community. Vince also creates curriculum and provides training on a wide range of safety topics.

He is a part of a select few trainers, nationwide that trains the trainers at the OSHA Training Institute. He trains them on how to deliver the OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 classes. Vince holds a BS in Occupational Safety from Illinois State University and a Master’s of Science in Industrial Hygiene from SDSU as well as being a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

Andrew Ovadya, MS, ASP – Staffing Director & Safety Consultant
Andrew is the Staffing Director and a Safety Consultant for SMART Safety Group and has been in the Environmental Health and Safety field for the past 24 years. Andrew provides written safety plans, employee training, tracking and managing of worker compensation claims. Andrew has performed extensive industrial hygiene duties such as personal air sampling, area air sampling, indoor air quality surveys, personal area noise dosimetry sampling, lighting surveys and ergonomic evaluations.

In 1992 Andrew earned a B.S. in Environmental Health from San Diego State University and also completed his M.S. in Industrial Hygiene from SDSU in 2003. He is an authorized OSHA 30 and OSHA 10 construction safety trainer. He has received his Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Status and is on his way to becoming Certified Safety professional (CSP).

Akbarh Arreola, AS, ASP, QSP – Safety Services Manager
Akbarh is a Safety Services Manager for SMART Safety Group. He has over four years of professional experience in environmental safety and health. Akbarh is designated as an Associate Safety Professional through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and is currently pursuing his CSP designation. He also holds an Associates of Science in Environmental Health & Safety and has enthusiastically pursued outside training to increase his knowledge on a consistent basis.

Akbarh has worked in construction environments performing and directing the work of safety auditors, training, reporting, testing, inspecting and investigating. He has successfully supervised and trained hundreds of employees in safety procedures and is very well regarded from subordinates and management alike. Akbarh is a dedicated safety professional and always goes above and beyond the call of duty to keep the workers he oversees safe and educated on safety practices.

Jackson Dalton, B.A. – Director of Training & Safety Manager
Jackson is the Director of Training & Safety Manager for SMART Safety Group. Jackson has responsibilities that include creating and presenting safety training programs. He is a authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer and Competent Person Fall Protection Trainer. Jackson is a former Marine and holds a BA in Business Management from the University of Saint Thomas. Jackson has over 4 years’ experience as a Competent Person Fall Protection Trainer specializing in the specification, sourcing, and installation of engineered fall protection systems for the Military, Oil and Gas Exploration, Wind Energy, Utility, Transportation, and Construction markets.

Luis Torres – Regional Safety Operations Manager
Luis is Regional Safety Operations Manager for SMART Safety Group. Luis has 10 years of construction management and field safety experience working on public and private construction projects. He has knowledge of Federal/OSHA, Cal/OSHA and Military safety regulations. His experience includes supervising crews, performing required safety inspections, and documenting as a field safety manager. He has completed his dual safety certification from the OSHA Training Institute (UCSD) in construction and general industry. He is an authorized OSHA 30 and OSHA 10 hour trainer in construction and general industry.
