Safety Program Management
Customized Safety Program Management to meet your company’s specific operating requirements.
Once upon a time, Orlando was known for more than Walt Disney World. Originally settled in 1843 by a man named Aaron Jernigan, others named the town “Jernigan” after him in the 1850s. No one remembers why Jernigan was renamed “Orlando” in September 1857. One theory suggests that the name pays tribute to Orlando Reeves, a soldier who was supposedly killed by a Seminole warrior. Another theory suggests that the name comes from a Shakespeare play. Judge J.S. Speer assisted in the founding of Orange County, Florida. Supposedly, he loved Shakespeare enough to replace the name “Jernigan” with a character’s name from As You Like It.
Before Walt Disney World opened to the public on October 1, 1971, Greater Orlando was primarily swampland. When Walt Disney decided to build a theme park east of the Mississippi, he liked central Florida for its cheap land. Greater Orlando was chosen because of the nearby airport. The Florida turnpike also crossed Interstate 4, which hadn’t been completed yet. Cheap land and easy access to more populated locales made Orlando the perfect spot for building a theme park empire.
Orlando continues to attract tourists from around the globe. The workers who staff Orlando’s numerous businesses deserve a workplace free of preventable hazards. Without them, there would be no tourist attractions, hotels, amenities… you name it. Your company is required by law to provide a reasonably safe work environment for your employees. It also has an ethical obligation. One serious injury can destroy a worker’s ability to work temporarily or even permanently. Injuries have a devastating ripple effect on employees and their families. Your company can face steep fines from OSHA and costly worker’s comp as well. Don’t let this happen to your company and employees. “But I have so much to do already!” you may say. “Everyday business operations get hectic, and the tangled web of regulations I have to follow is so complicated!” You don’t have to handle every challenging task alone.
